Look up with us

Cabin in the Sky is a three-day outdoor Afrofuturist activation by artist Ifé Franklin in Franklin Park. The ancestral Slave/Freedom Cabin becomes a mothership, a vessel carrying the souls of our ancestors toward freedom. Through an Ancestor Procession, a Hush Harbor, projection, soundscape, ring shout, and community ritual, we gather across past, present, and future. Dressed in white, we walk into the realm of the ancestors. Look up.

What to expect

  • An outdoor evening gathering under the sky, all three nights
  • Live music
  • Large-scale projections and an immersive soundscape on the ancestral cabin
  • An Ancestor Procession in white attire, with elders welcoming you at the entrance
  • Space to reflect, offer, and honor those who came before
  • Dancing in front of the cabin on Saturday

Come dressed in white. Bring the whole family. Children are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult.

People of color will lead this processional. Allies and abolitionists will respectfully walk behind.

Please bring insect repellent. Please do not bring food. Water is fine.
